Many of us picture fuzzy bumblebees, honeycombs, and possibly even being stung once or twice as a child when we think of bees. Bees, on the other hand, play a crucial role in our ecosystem. They pollinate a wide range of fruits and vegetables, including broccoli, squash, apples, almonds, and many others, in addition to producing honey. Bees provide pollination for at least 30% of the world’s crops and 90% of wild plants. It goes beyond honeybees; There are numerous varieties of bees that are pollinators.

The mission of the Operation Pollination campaign is to raise public awareness of the significance of bees and combat the decline in bee populations. A lot of people have a negative view of bees,” continues Melissa. We wanted to educate the public and treat bees with respect. The Naked Bee provides marketing materials and planting packets of wildflower seeds to retailers at no cost. Customers receive seed packets from retailers to plant in their own gardens or in their communities.

We sponsor a live bee exhibit in partnership with tourist destinations like the Texas Discovery Garden, according to Melissa. Visitors to the gardens will find this to be an excellent educational tool. Seed packets are available for guests to take home to plant and make an impact in their own backyards.
In 2018, The Naked Bee will provide garden centers, nature preserves, and other outdoor venues that can accommodate a bee dwelling with a bee habitat for mason bees. According to Melissa, “We’re opening the door to awareness of other bee species and types of pollinators.” We are beginning to look at the big picture and branch out.
Operation Pollination grants free participation to any retailer. In January, The Naked Bee will begin sending out seed packets and promotional materials. March marks the official start of the planting season for the program. This is an ideal opportunity for a community, outdoor, gift, or garden retailer to host an interactive seed-planting event to promote bees and your business.
